Join the team: Funding opportunities
I am always looking for strong doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers and placement students who are interested in topics such as sensory processing, perception, decision-making, attention, development, autism, dyslexia and other neurodevelopmental conditions. There are a range of funding opportunities that we could apply for together - I've listed some possibilities below. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss research ideas and funding opportunities further.
New positions
I am currently advertising for:
1. A 35 month, full-time post-doctoral researcher on an MRC grant on visual discomfort in autistic children: Research Fellow in Autism and Sensory Processing at University of Birmingham (jobs.ac.uk). Closing date 1st September 2024.
2. A part-time research associate (0.5 FTE for 1 year) to work on a range of research and engagement projects, including the above MRC-funded project. Research Associate at University of Birmingham (jobs.ac.uk). Closing date 21st August 2024.
Doctoral funding
See the University of Birmingham doctoral funding opportunities (note the Midlands Graduate School DTP also offers 1+3 funding if you don't have a Masters yet). For these schemes, you will normally need to submit an initial application in December for a September start the following year, so getting in touch early is advisable so we can assess fit and I can support you with your application. The Baily Thomas Charity also has a PhD Fellowship scheme (deadline for applications in March).
Postdoctoral funding
There are schemes available for postdoctoral researchers including from the British Academy, the Leverhulme Trust, the Economic and Social Research Council, and the Wellcome Trust.
Placement / Internship funding
The Experimental Psychology Society currently offers an undergraduate research bursary (for a project immediately prior to final year of study) and a new graduate research bursary (for a project immediately following the final year of study). The Applied Vision Association offers a Bradshaw-Eagle Undergraduate Research Scholarship.
