Taking part in studies
Our research relies on many wonderful volunteers! We normally need large groups of children so that we can be confident in our findings. This means that we are always looking for more families who are interested in taking part.
Each study is slightly different, but we always aim to make it fun! Normally, children will play some child-friendly games on the computer, as well as doing some language and reasoning tasks, a quick eye test and some activities looking at social communication. We may ask you to fill in some brief questionnaires about your child too. For some studies, we use a non-invasive method called 'EEG' where we use a hairnet with little sensors on it to listen to children's brain waves as they play the games.
Some studies are done at the University, while others can also be done at your child's school or at home. If you are travelling to the University, we will pay your travel expenses.
Current projects
Caregiver- and child-reported sensory processing
We are currently looking for children aged 7 to 15 years and their parents/caregivers to take part in an online survey about children's sensory experiences. We will compare children's and parent's responses. We will see whether a child's ability to understand and label emotions affects their responses.
If you would like to find out more about these or upcoming studies, please email me. Getting in touch does not mean that you are obliged to take part.
